Namibia was portrayed by the narrator as very beautiful in the story in Cell One of the novel. Namibia engaged in theft, got caught and was imprisoned. At the cell one where he was imprisoned, he met an innocent old man.
The man was apprehended by the police because the police could not find his son that was "wanted". Namibia behaved in kindness towards the old man. He revolted the torture and maltreatment of the Old man by the police because he was sick and innocent.
This act of kindness reflected how the Author changed the character of Namibia from a character was that was caught for engaging in social vices of stealing to being kind and showing an act of benevolence towards the old man.
The change in Nnamabia’s character was illustrated as he changed from someone that engaged in social vices to someone who was kind.
At the beginning of the story, it can be seen that Namibia was engaged in theft and was imprisoned as a result. He met an old man in the cell and this was pivotal to his change.
He was kind towards the man. He also explained to the police that the man was innocent and should not be tortured. The act of kindness was vital as it reflected the change in the character.
