You can tell that it is Europe because of process of elimination. You couldn't get to america because you had to cross the pacific and back then humans didn't the proper ships to survive the voyage, so that rules out North and South America. Also Europe is closer to Africa than Siberia is so the answer out of the four regions is Europe.
