The story “Raymond’s Run” is about a girl named Squeaky who is responsible for caring for her brother, Raymond. We learn that Raymond has a mental disability and is sometimes a challenge to care for. Think of a time when you have been responsible for caring for someone else. Your experience could be babysitting for a neighbor’s child, helping to care for a pet, or helping an elderly relative. If you had not had this experience, think about a time someone close to you had this responsibility; or, imagine what being in this situation would be like. What lessons did you (or could you) learn from this experience?

Your response should be about 150 words

Explanation:

Once I hit the age eleven I've had to watch over my older sister who has a disability. I would "babysit" her when my mom was busy, or outside, and I would have to make sure she was okay every 10 to 15 minutes. She is 26 years old and has a mind of a 4-7-year-old, which means I have to get her food, turn the lights on and off, plugging things in for her. Which of course I do not mind. She does get irritated with me at times when I try to help her since she is very independent. When I was eleven I only had to watch her for a short period of time, but as I got older the time expanded, now it mostly depends on what my mom is doing or if my brother is home. My situation is very similar to Squeaky and her brother Raymond.

Answer

One day I got a notification on my neighborhood app asking for someone to babysit for an hour every day that week while they worked an extra hour after the kids get out of school. So I asked my mom if I could and she said surely this would be a good lesson to learn responsibility. So every day I met them at their bus stop and walked them home. The first day they were a bit shy but it eventually wared off the longer I was there. I started off by making us some snacks because obvioulsy they were going to hungry after school and while they ate they watched nickelodeon. After they were done I washed their plates and they got started on their homework. Their mom had asked me to do some quick chores around the house so I started on those. After the kids were done with their homework it was almost time for their parents to get home so we went to play in the backyard why I watered the plants after I watered the plants they still wanted to play so I sat on my phone while they played. After they were done playing we went inside and got some water and cooled down. We still had a bit till their parents got home so the kids went and played in their playroom while I sat on the couch and waited till their parents got home. That happened every day that week.
