DNA and RNA synthesis
Explanation:
Thymidine is a nucleoside building block for DNA, but not RNA, whereas uridine is a nucleoside building block for RNA, but not DNA
- Both DNA and RNA are types of nucleic acids
- DNA evolved from RNA and helps in the storage, expression and transmission of genetic information(does not act as an enzyme) and follow Chargaff's rule
- Chargaff rule states that purines(adenine and guanine) will always be equal to pyrimidines(cytosine and thymine)
- RNA evolved first, structurally and functionally more diverse than DNA and act as an enzyme
- RNA does not follow Chargaff's rule
- Uracil is found in RNA(in place of thymine)
