Determine the number of times in a month the bus must be used so that the total monthly cost without the coupon book is the same as the total monthly cost with the coupon book.

let x be the number of bus rides.

1.50x = 0.50x + 24
1.50x - 0.50x = 24
1x = 24
x = 24

24 bus rides for both to have the same cost.

1.50x = 0.50x + 24
1.50(24) = 0.50(24) + 24
36 = 12 + 24
36 = 36
