Money can't buy happiness because the things that bring long-term satisfaction and contentment cannot be bought. Money may allow you to do some fun things and bring some enjoyment, but long-term happiness comes from things like spirituality, relationships, and friendships, etc. (Just go on and keep saying about how you cannot buy friends and so on).

Money cannot buy happiness, and it is apparent, especially in today's world. To be truthful, Money can be a deciding factor in showing power and prestige, as, with money, you can buy monetary value things that are also valued by society. However, money cannot buy many human characteristics that make up who we are. Examples can be found anywhere, where money can only give a part of what is truly wanted.

For example, think about the love of your life. Money may be able to "buy a girlfriend", but it does not mean that the money is there to buy "true" love. To be able to get "true" love, both parties must be happy with the person, and not just the benefits that they get (in this case, wealth). With happiness, there must also be a mutual trust. Money can play a essential part in helping preserve this stance, or it can destroy it. An example of money destroying relationship is the usage of it to cheat on a loved one, and then using money to cover up the incident. While the person may be happy for the moment, the memory of cheating and being found out is that of fear, and to the cheated is that of distrust and unhappiness.

On top of that, we must look at the effects to all parties. The usage of money can make one party happy, but it does not mean that others parties will also get a positive influence through the usage. For example, the US government may use the money to kill terrorists, and that makes the government happy. However, while there is disapproval of what the terrorists do, we must also remember that they have families as well. While this is a grey-zoned example, we can see that the actions of one that makes people happy, may also make others sorrowful.

Finally, you can take a look at your own life experiences. How much times and how long were you happy after using money to buy things, as supposed to hanging out with your friends and having a good time? Things become old, and while memories may fade, you'll always enjoy the old memories more than the objects of before.

Why can money not buy happiness? Because happiness is found in your experience, and your memories, not through the means of paper & coin currencies.
