2. There are 4 banana smoothies, 1 strawberry smoothie, and 1 watermelon smoothie in the refrigerator. Without looking, what is the probability of pulling out a banana smoothie and then another banana smoothie? (Assume that you don't put the first banana smoothie back in the refrigerator.) Write your answer as a percent.

Respuesta :

Using it's concept, it is found that the probabilities are given as follows:

1. 1/64.

2. 40%.

What is a probability?

A probability is given by the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

Item 1:

For each throw, there are 4 outcomes, one of which is 1, hence the probability is given as follows:

[tex]p = \left(\frac{1}{4}\right)^3 = \frac{1}{64}[/tex].

Item 2:

Initially, there are is a 4/6 probability of getting a banana smoothies, then for the second the probability is 3/5, as there is no replacement, hence the probability is:

[tex]p = \frac{4}{6} \times \frac{3}{5} = 0.4[/tex]

40% probability.
