Why do lunar and solar eclipses not happen every month?
-Eclipses only occur during full and new moons
-Earth rotates around its axis faster than the moon
-The moon and Earth only travel through the penumbras
-The moon’s axis does that always align with the Earth’s shadow
just like the earth the moon's orbit is not straight and flat but at a slant. For a solar or lunar eclipse to happen the moon needs to be level with the earth. Basically the moon does not orbit the earth in a straight flat way.
