I am very confused about this and need an answer ASAP. I'm writing an essay and I have to include this quote, "that thing was not my master". The word 'thing' usually wouldn't be classified as a pronoun but in this case I'm not so sure. I saw a forum where it said 'thing' could potentially be a pronoun but I genuinely don't know.
