All of the following occur during the exhaustion phase of the general adaptation syndrome except, the body's energy begins to increase.
When we are exhausted, our body experiences certain changes to keep working, but it puts in danger our health.
Let's see each change:
- The body experiences hormonal exhaustion: when we are exhausted, our body has a hormonal imbalance. In other words, it produces a lot of some hormones a few others; as a result, we do not have the necessary energy, and we get tired.
- The body becomes more prone to illness: since our body is exhausted, it does not have the necessary energy to keep and maintain the different mechanisms that our body has to protect us against illnesses, so we are more prone to illness.
- The body's energy begins to increase: this is not true. As we are exhausted, we do not have the energy to perform our daily activities. In other words, our energy decreases.
- The chance of experiencing collapse increases: since we do not have a lot of energy, there is a hormone imbalance, and we are under stress, the probabilities of experiencing a collapse are higher.
In conclusion, during the exhaustion phase of the general adaptation syndrome, the symptom that we do not experience is an increase in energy.
