It is added to detect the leakage of the natural gas. The gas sensors are able to detect the flow or leakage of gas at various locations but the maximum concentration of the natural gas containing the mercaptan can be found in one meter in front of the source. The source exhibit maximum concentration of the natural gas along with the mercaptan.
