I think that the character's in this story were very complex the king had abused his power by asking a faithful servant to complete difficult tasks for him and the king was hoping that he would win the princes love and the faithful servant was hard working and he was very brave when the king had asked him to bring back the water of life and the king was hoping to win the princess but towards the end of the story the king learns a lesson about hard work.

With the reading “The Water of Life” we can describe the characters in the following way:

King: An old and sick man.
First and Second Prince: Evil and ambitious.
Third prince: Wise, kind, strong, charitable, and determined.
Dwarf: Kind and wise.
Princess: Imprisoned and romantic.

We can describe them this way because:

In "The Water of Life" we meet a king who is sick and asks his children to find the water of life so that he can drink and heal.
He claims that any of the children who find this water and bring it to him will be chosen as the heir to the kingdom.
All the princes go in search of this water and find a dwarf who tries to talk to them.
The two older princes don't want to hear the dwarf and beat him up, but the younger prince talks to the dwarf who gives him lots of tips on how to get the water.
In the middle of his journey, he meets a trapped princess, he releases her, she kisses him and promises to marry him after he returns to his kingdom.
The prince succeeds in this adventure and manages to bring the water to his father, marry the princess and become the heir to the throne.

This story is a fairy tale and was written by the Brothers Grimm.
