However, when the drug was removed, the rats still showed signs of enhanced immune system just with the sweetened water. It shows that the sweetened water has associated with the unconditioned stimulus, which is enhanced immune system functioning, and now triggers the same response even without the drug.

The sweetened water is the conditioned stimulus in the experiment done with the rats. Rats responded positively with the consumption of such water which led to boosting their immunity.

Rats had been given only sweetened water with a drug that boosted their immunity during the first week of the experiment. However when drug was not consumed, their immunity was affected negatively.

In most of the experiments that are dealt with drugs, mostly such experiments are conducted by testing rats and noticing their reactions over conduction of such experiment.

The conduction of such experiments tells or helps in identifying whether it will be suitable for human consumption or how it will react upon human consumption.

Conditioned stimulus refers to a medium of experiment which is the main focus of such experiment and the medium through which the final results can be analyzed.
