A conflict is a a problem, disagreement, or argument that is present in a story. A conflict can also be something that gets in between the main character and their goal. The conflict or when a conflict is solved is usually in the climax of the plot of the story. There can be internal and external conflicts, where the character is having a conflict between themselves or the outside world. There can be many conflicts in the story, as not the whole story resolves around just one.

Rising action is events that lead up to the main event, or climax of the story. In a story, the rising action can have many events happening, good or bad. All the things that happen in the rising action, end up playing an important part of the climax. The rising action happens right after the characters are introduced and you find where the setting is. The rising action is also where suspense is starting to show, and your getting ready for the climax.
