About 1.6 million years ago, the world began to experience ice ages. In response to these changes, early humans migrated from Africa to Asia and eventually to India, China, Southeast Asia, and Europe. They had to adapt to their new environment.

People now lived all around the world and had to learn to use animal skins for clothing, to invent tools to fish and bow and arrows to hunt, and to make canoes for travel.
