Answer;

Key stones are very important in an ecosystem. Therefore; the balance in the ecosystem is ruined and other organisms are threatened to the point if extinction.

Explanation;

-A keystone species is an organism that helps define an entire ecosystem. Without its keystone species, the ecosystem would be dramatically different or cease to exist altogether.

 -Keystone species have low functional redundancy. This means that if the species were to disappear from the ecosystem, no other species would be able to fill its ecological niche. The ecosystem would be forced to radically change, allowing new and possibly invasive species to populate the habitat.

Keystone species refer to an organism that aids in completing an entire ecosystem and in absence of it, the ecosystem might be different dramatically or might cease to exist.

Further explanation:

Keystone species have a reduced functional redundancy which means that in case the species were to vanish from the ecosystem, no other species will have the ability to replace its ecological niche. The ecosystem will be enforced to change drastically, allowing novel and invasive species to occupy the habitat.

Any organism can be a keystone species, from plants to fungi. They are not known to be the largest in number or most abundant species found in the ecosystem. But, almost all the organisms of keystone species are the animals that have a high impact on the food webs. The way such animals affect the food webs differs from one habitat to another.

A keystone species is often a predator. An example of this can be the presence of gray wolves in the ecosystem which is called as Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This ecosystem is a huge and is known to be diverse temperate kind of ecosystem that stretches across the boundaries of the U.S states of Montana.

Keystone species can be herbivores and their ingestion of plants aids in managing the physical as well as biological regions of the ecosystem. For instance, in African savannas like Serengeti plains in Tanzania, elephants are known to be the keystone species. They consume shrubs and small trees which grow on the savanna.
