The punctuaction mark called ellipsis (. . .) is used in a sentence to indicate a pause, or to introduce a feeling of suspense by showing a break in the sentence. Also, sometimes the ellipsis is used in order to omit a part of a quote. In this case, answer A is the one that should go in the underlined space to show a break in the speech. The use of any of the other options would make the sentence grammatically incorrect.
