Altogether, they sold 484 items that totaled $1,694. If the chess club sold each item for the same price, calculate the price of each item.

Answer: $3.50

My reasoning: 484 x 7 = 3388    3388 ÷ 2 = 1694

So, this led me to know that if 484 x 7 gives 3388, which is another half of 1694 (basically 1694 x 2) , what is half of 7?                              

Well, 3.5 is half of 7      484 x 3.5 = 1694

3.5 can be 3.50 if you just add a 0 at the end.
