Amygdala is not a hindbrain structure.
The brain is divided into three major layers which are
- the hindbrain
- the midbrain
- and the forebrain.
The cerebellum, reticular formation, and brain stem of which the brain stem houses the pons and medulla oblongata is found in the hindbrain which is known as central core of the brain and responsible for some basic life functions such as breathing and respiration.
The amygdala, an almond-shaped collection of nuclei is located middle of the brain. It is responsible for emotion and memories.
