She has not planned to try out
1) She messes up while waiting.
She realizes she has a talent.
She knows it is not the best time.
Waiting to audition for the school talent show is not
the best time to realize that you have no talent. None. But I
hadn't intended to audition.
So why was I trying out?
Because I'm forgetful, and if I do have a talent, it's for
messing things up.
Like forgetting my brand new jacket on the playground
today
Before I left the house this morning, my mother looked
me straight in the eyes and said, “Rica. Do. Not. Lose. This.
Jacket." Each word sent a shock wave through my body.
