Mitosis is a process through which somatic cells multiply and increase their number. Mitosis is an important process in a living being's body. It helps to replace the older cells with the newer ones. Each cell in our body has a life span after completing that it has to die. But before dying, cells divide to generate their copy in the form of a daughter cell. Once an older cell degenerates, the younger cell replaces it to accomplish the task which it was doing. So in the absence of mitosis, skin cells would die because their life span is over without being replaced by newer cells.
