True, the sinking of the Lusitania, accompanied with other incidents, drew the United States into WW1 against Germany

True.

The sinking of Lusitania provoked by Germans is remember as the event that started to turn American public opinion against Germany. This 32,000-ton ship that was carrying about 173 tons of war munitions for Britain, was hit by a torpedo sent by Germans on May 7, 1915, and it resulted in the death of more than 1000 people.

Although Germany apologized later, it continued to cause the sinking of several ships more, such as the American cargo ship Housatonic in February 1917. On April 1917 the U.S. finally decided to enter the war on the side of the Allies.
