can someone please help me out but no links please

The area of the shape is the same as
Area of the rectangle - Area of the semi-circle.
From the picture, the length and the width of the rectangle are 11 and 8 respectively so the area of the rectangle will be 8 * 11 = 88 unit^2.
From the picture, the diameter of the semi-circle is 8 and so the radius is 4.
Using the area of a semicircle formula:
A = [tex]\frac{\pi r^2}{2}[/tex]
A = [tex]\frac{3.14*16}{2} = 3.14*8 = 25.12[/tex] unit^2.
Hence, the area would be 88 - 25.12 = 62.9 unit^2
