The resolution of the plot revealed the author's purpose by showing the process of immigration into the United States. The purpose the author wrote in this story was to show the reader the challenges Enrique and his family had to go through just to be financially stable and live a decent life. The human rights issues in the book Enrique's journey would be immigration, poverty, assault, and sexual assault. Immigration and poverty issue appears in the beginning when Lourdes (mother of Enrique and Belky) sneaks into the U.S to earn money to feed her children.

The author uses negative diction in the quote, “We are human. We should treat people in a humane way. It's okay to send people back. But they shouldn't shoot them, beat them this way.” Nazario uses negative words such as, humane, shoot, and beat. The authors purpose is to show why the immigrants did what they did. It gives us all a better reasoning and understanding to what they do. The humans right issue is immigration, the author shows this by Enrique's Journey.
