The feather just looks soggy and heavier overall.  I believe that if Natalia dips the feather covered in oil in cold water, the feather will remain the same. If she were to dip it in hot water, the feather will get rid of the oil mostly. Think about it, in the ocean the water is cold right? So when oil spills in the ocean it will stay there. Hot water is the best to remove the oil from the feather.
