The Appalachian Region in the southwestern United States, which is one of the most richly biodiverse regions in the world. Overall, cities that recycle & reuse basically exist in harmony with the surrounding environments are also considered sustainable ecosystems. A sustainable ecosystem is one where even when things are taken, nature still has enough to function and the ecosystem/area is healthy. But dealing with domestic, industrial, & agricultural waste is a growing environmental issue. That is NOT a sustainable ecosystem.
