The story Great Greene Heist is an interesting story by Varian Johnson. The story focuses on how friends attending a school team up to support their fellow friend in his race to run for Student Council president against a strong rival opponent.
Ms. Appleton is one of the school secretaries. The reader is able to infer that Ms. Appleton apart from being a difficult person, also has elements of prejudice towards those of a different race.
For example, we read, “Jackson looked at his skinny brown hands. He never quite knew what Ms. Appleton meant when she said ‘boys like you.’ He hoped she meant something like ‘boys named Jackson’ or ‘boys who are tall,’ but he suspected her generalizations implied something else.”
So in conclusion, the story is one that teaches lessons about accepting and respecting diversity.
