The only thing I can really think of is that the retainer may have gotten damaged or bent out of shape. Since it doesn't fit correctly you should get ahold of your orthodontist and try to get it fixed or have another on made.
Did it snap in correctly when you got it? If it did, I think maybe you went too long without wearing it. It might be ok, just get it in as best you can and it will hurt for about a day until your teeth move into position. Make sure you wear it according to directions because you’d be surprised how fast teeth will move out of alignment!
