Jared's school is selling tickets to a musical. On the first day of ticket sales, they sold 30 senior citizen tickets ad 90 children's tickets for a total of $750. On the second day they took in $670 by selling 80 senior citizen tickets and 50 children's tickets.

What are the prices of each type of ticket?

Let the number of senior citizen tickets be x

Let the number of children's tickets be y.

The equation to solve the question will then be:

30x + 90y = 750 ...... i

80x + 50y = 670 ...... ii

Multiply equation i by 80

Multiply equation ii by 30

2400x + 7200y = 60000

2400x + 1500y = 20100

Subtract the equation

5700y = 39900

y = 39900/5700

y = 7

The number of children tickets sold cost $7

Since 30x + 90y = 750

30x + 90(7) = 750

30x + 630 = 750

30x = 750 - 630

30x = 120

x = 4
