The energy is the ability to do work.
Shine was incorrect about the fact that plants produce their food by absorbing sunlight. They look green due to the presence of chlorophyll. She thought that to produce energy and convert this into human is also done by chloroplast.
While sunlight does indeed contain energy, only plants are able to use and convert this energy into a usable form.
