Answer:

45°

Step-by-step explanation:

The Supplementary Angles Postulate states that if two angles form a linear pair, then the sum of the angles is 180°.

With this knowledge, you can set up your equation:

(3x+6)+(x+2)=180

(It's okay that I didn't put the degrees in, you still get the same answer)

First, combine like terms.

(3x+6)+(x+2)=180

4x+6+2=180

4x+8=180

Then solve.

4x+8=180

    -8    -8

4x=172

÷4   ÷4

x=43

DO NOT STOP HERE!! Since the question asks for the measure of angle SQR, do NOT put 43 as the answer!! It is a common mistake (I have fallen for it many times before!!)

Plug in the "x" into the equation.

(43)+2=45°

Hope this helps! If you need more clarification, or if it isn't right, feel free to tell me in the comments. Rock that quiz tomorrow!!

(3x+6) +(x+2)=180 Reason:angles on a straight line =180(degrees)

3x+6+x+2=180
(what I did in this strep was to remove the brackets so I times sign(+) into the bracket. So if it was a minus,then (3x+6)-(x+2)=180 so when I remove the brackets to get a normal equation then it will be written like 3x+6-x-6=180. You multiply the negative into the brackets. So remember +x+=+ (gives you a positive) and -x-=+ and a -x+=- (the x is times, a multiplication sign) remember that rule for multiplying signs)

3x+6+x+2=180
3x+x+6+2=180
4x+8=180
4x+8-8=180-8 (8-8=0 so they cancel each other out ,take the positive 8 to the other side since we want x to be alone, when you take the 8 to the other side of the equal sign, it becomes a negative 8, the sign has to change when taken to the other side of the equal side

4x=180-8
4x=172
x=43
(What I did is divide 4x by 4 and 172 divided by 4, the reason I did this was because I wanted x on its own. And when you divide you need to divide on both sides)

So after this your substitute the answer we got for x into x. 3(43)+6+43+2=180
135+45=180(degrees)

Hope this makes sense. I explained everything in detail so you can use it for other equations similar to this.
