After reading Beowulf, it becomes clear that the line or the difference between monsters and heroes is very minute.
Beowulf was a monster who did good and great deeds. While he was in his youth, Beowulf was a monster but one that can also be described as a magnificent warrior characterized by several deeds of strength and courage.
An example of such was the swimming competition between himself and Breca. Recall that he also defeated Grendel and Grendels mother who validates him for his bravery.
