John Cabot was an Italian explorer in the 1400’s that is credited with the discovery of modern day Newfoundland. His main goal was to find a route to Asia but ended up discovering Newfoundland as previously stated. Without John it could have been many more years until modern day Canada was discovered. John unfortunately met his fate and was never seen again after going on a second expedition to find a route to Japan.
