[tex] \frac{2}{3} - \frac{1}{4} [/tex]
LCM = 12
[tex] \frac{2 \times 4}{3 \times 4} - \frac{1 \times 3}{4 \times 3} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{8}{12} - \frac{3}{12} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{5}{12} [/tex]
Answer:
The answer is 5/12
Step-by-step explanation:
This is the way I was taught......
multiply the denominators times each other but the numerators have to be changed too they get multiplied by the other term's denominator.
multiply 2x4 and get 8
multiply 1x3 and get 3
Now you got to get a new denominator which is 12
So now that makes the fraction look like this 8/12 - 3/12 which will give you 5/12
I don't know why they taught it to me this way but it's complicated so sorry if you don't get it but I hope you do:)
