24/100 × x = 72
x = 72/0.24
Therefore x = 300

The # of males = 300 - 72 = 228

Let x be the total of people on the police force 24x=72 Divide both sides by 24 x=300 since there is 300 people on the force and 72 are ladies. We subtract 300-72= 228 So there is 228 male police officers :)
