A ball falling through the air has ___.
(A) both kinetic energy because it still has a distance to move before it hits the ground and potential energy because it is moving
(B) only kinetic energy
(C) only potential energy
(D) both potential energy because it still has a distance to move before it hits the ground and kinetic energy because it is moving.

When a car stops, the brakes heat up because of friction. What is this an example of?
(A) energy being destroyed
(B) one form of energy being converted to another
(C)periodic motion
(D) elastic motion

Respuesta :

1) D
2) B

if you need explanation, comment !

The answer  is; D

Potential energy is the stored energy in an object in respect to the position it has relative to other objects or ground, stresses within it, electric charges it contains, and/or other factors.  Therefore, the ball’s relative position to the ground gives it potential energy because it will fall by gravity when released.

The answer is; B

When brakes are applied, the kinetic energy of the car is converted to heat energy (due to friction) as reduced speed and stops. This is in accordance with the law of thermodynamics that stipulated that energy or matter cannot be destroyed or created but can only be transformed.
