Jake had a doctor's appointment at 2:30 p.m. It takes 53 minutes to drive to the doctor's office from his work. What time does he need to leave work if he wants to arrive by 2:20 p.m.?

First, what do we know?

   

  We know..

  • Needs to arrive by 2:20pm
  • 53 minutes to get there

2:30-53=1:37

So jake should leave around 1:00pm-1:30pm

2:30-1:30=1:00
