A rectangle has one side equal to (2x+4) cm and a perimeter of (6x+4) cm. What is the area of the rectangle in terms of x?

Respuesta :

given:

one side= (2x+4) cm

perimeter= (6x+4) cm

to find:

the area of the rectangle in terms of x.

solution:

P=2(l+b)

We have some variables to sub in so it’s now

6x+4=2(2x+4+b)

3x+2=2x+4+b

x−2=b

And now we have the values for the sides

A=lb

And we know what ll and bb are, so we can just sub those values in:

A=(2x+4)(x−2)

A=2(x+2)(x−2)

[tex]a = (2 {x}^{2} - 4)[/tex]

[tex]a = {2x}^{2} - 8[/tex]
