Christopher Columbus proposed the Idea to his queen in spain to find a new trading route to India for trade. The route to get to India from spain was very long and difficult, so Clombus tried sailing west to find a better route, instead he found America. This is why he called the nativr Americans there "Indians" becuase he thought he had reached India.
