The goals of the Soviet Union during the Cold War was to spread communism and be in control of Eastern Europe.

What is the Cold War?

The Cold War was an open conflict (rivalry) that developed almost immediately after the Second World War (World War II). Also, it officially started on the 12th of March, 1947 and came to an end on the 3rd of December, 1989.

Historically, the goals of the Cold War with the respective country are:

  • United States of America: to promote democracy and open markets, especially by preventing the Soviet Union from spreading communism.
  • Soviet Union: to spread communism and be in control of Eastern Europe.
