Step by step
Roof is 36” x 24” which is 3’ x 2’
So 3 x 2 = 6 multiplied by 2 sides of roof
Total is 12 sq feet

I made the roof peak with a 3” overhang over the entrance
I made the roof overhang the sides with 4”

So to find the hypotenuse (diagonal of the roof) I used the Pythagorean theorem.
a^2 + b^2 = c ^2
15^2 + 13^2 = c^2
394 = c^2
Take square root of both sides
C= 19.8 rounded to 20
I then added 4” overhang to each side for total diagonal of 24”
