Street art: Swoon creates large linocuts and woodcuts on lightweight paper, cutting the images from the material and taping them to urban walls and barriers. She says her art is about "declaring the walls of the city a public sounding board for our dreams, desires and collective identities."
Born Caledonia Dance Curry in 1977, Swoon is a Brooklyn-based street and studio artist known for his large-scale paper cuts and life-size installations. The majority of her art consists of intricate and delicate papercut portraits, generally based on the people she met throughout her life. Swoon's cuts on paper are as ephemeral as they aren't created with her paint sprayed on walls like most of other street artists. Most of them survive for several months, but some are only visible for a few minutes.
