Lyrical second theme of the sonata-allegro form is heard in this excerpt from the first movement.

Sonata allegro form (also called first movement form) is a musical structure most associated with the first movements of various Western instrumental genres, especially sonatas, symphonies, and string quartets. Sonata allegro form matured in late eighteenth century, and by about the mid-nineteenth century it provided an instrumental vehicle for many of the deepest musical ideas, and remained prominent in the ways of many subsequent composers. The three basic elements of sonata form are exposition, development and summary, in which musical themes are presented, explored and repeated.
