Which rationale explains why the nurse also monitors a client with a history of gastroesophageal reflux disease (gerd) for clinical manifestations of heart disease?

Respuesta :

Esophageal pain may imitate the symptoms of a heart attack in a patient with history of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

Heart attack is the condition of sudden improper functioning of heart. This happens because the heart muscles are not supplied with sufficient blood. The delay in the supply of the oxygen can turn life-threatening. The symptoms are: anxiety, excessive sweating, pain in the chest, fatigue, etc.

GERD is the condition when the acid of the stomach flows backwards towards the esophagus. This is known as acid reflux. The reason for the disorder can be being overweight, overeating, excessive use of alcohol and caffeine, etc. Heartburn is the most common symptom.
