According to the Map, eleven US states broke away from the union before April 14 1864 and these states were nicknamed the Dixie.
They include the following which formed the confederate States of America, South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Vir.ginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
The States of Kentucky and Missouri also had declarations of secession and full representation in the Confederate Congress.
