The ATP yield from the NADH is also dependent on how the electrons from  cytoplasmic (glycolytic) NADH are being transported into the mitochondria. and In the muscle, the glycerol-phosphate shuttle the occurs, which in results in 1.5 ATP as per NADH.

Cytoplasmic NADH is the oxidatively of phosphorylated inside the mitochondrion. Mitochondrion is mainly impermeable to the NADH. Entry into the mitochondrion is  also effected through.

In the plant mitochondria, cytosolic NADH can also be oxidized either by the external NADH and dehydrogenase or by the redox shuttle whereas in the mitochondrial the matrix, NADH can also be oxidized by the proton-and translocating complex I or by the alternative, non translocating, into internal NADH dehydrogenase
