Personification is used when a poet wants to give the characteristics of a living being to a non living thing. For example- The cup and saucer sing together every morning.
An onomatopoeia is described as a word which sounds like the noise it describes. For example- boom!, zap, boing, etc.
It is so because simile is a basic/commonly used poetic device, which is there to do/ show the comparison between two things by using "as" or "like" in the sentence/line. Whereas, the another poetic device metaphor is also used to show the comparison but it doesn't use "as" or "like" and compare it directly.
