1-butanol has higher melting point than diethyl ether .

1-butanol is a primary alcohol, it is capable of intermolecular hydrogen bonding because it contains O-H bond .thus 1-butanol has a higher melting point because it can form intermolecular hydrogen bonds .

In case of diethyl ether the boiling point is less because it does not have intermolecular hydrogen bond .

Ethers are relatively inert in nature .
