What is foramifera?
Foraminifera are single-celled organisms that belong to the phylum or class of amoeboid protists. They are distinguished by streaming granular ectoplasm that they can employ to grab prey and for other purposes, as well as a common external shell known as a "test" made of various shapes and materials. Chitin tests, which can be found in a few simple genera, like Textularia, are thought to be the most basic form. Most foraminifera are marine, with the majority of them existing on or within the sediment of the bottom.
