The form of the US Federal government is Indirect Democracy.

Democracy is a form of government in which the people have the right to consider and decide on legislation ("direct democracy")  or choose rulers to do so ("representative democracy").

Who is considered "the people" and how people share or delegate power has changed over time and at different rates in different countries, but over time, more and more people of one Democratic state are generally included.

The foundations of democracy include freedom of assembly, association, property rights, freedom of religion and expression, inclusiveness and equality, citizenship, consent of the government, the right to vote, protection against unjustifiable deprivation of life and liberty by the government, and the rights of minorities.
